Scholarships to Study in New Zealand

Studying in New Zealand can become quite an expensive affair, but if you plan well in advance, you can apply to a range of scholarships offered by the New Zealand Universities and Colleges. Open to meritorious International students to help them fund their studies, these can be partial or fully paid, depending on the criteria, course and the institution.

Many scholarships and bursaries are also offered by the New Zealand government and various private and public establishments as well. When applying to any of these scholarships, make sure you check the criteria carefully, along with the application closing date.

Scholarships

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Qualifying International students will be awarded with a scholarship of NZ$7000 –NZ$10,000 towards the overall cost of their study in one of the 180 credits taught master’s Programme. Students must have a GPA of at least 75% or B+ average in the last year of their bachelor’s degree to meet the requirements.

1. NZ$10,000 Scholarships – Apply to the following Programme :

  • Master of Business – Global Management and Marketing*
  • Master of Business – Finance*
  • Master of Professional Accounting
  • Master of Sports and Recreation Management*
  • Master of Tourism Management*
  • Master of International Rural Development*

*November intake also available

2. NZ$7000 Scholarships – apply to the following Programme :

  • Master of Science in Food Innovation
  • Master of Disaster Risk and Resilience
  • Master of Environment Management& Policy
  • Master of Management in Agribusiness
  • Master of Management in Agricultural System
  • Master of Wine and Viticulture
  • Master of Pest Management

OTAGO BUSINESS SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

For graduates who are good with numbers and want to get involved in the world of finance, encourage them to apply for one of the Master of Finance (M.Finc) Scholarships. Whether finance graduate, or with a background in mathematics, statistics, physics or economics the (M.Finc) degree could be perfect. Flexible study options to suit different academic backgrounds and career aspirations are available.

Duration: 12 months Programme.

Study accounting in New Zealand at the University of Otago with one of 10 x $10,000 NZD Scholarships.

If you know a student who would like be an accountant but they haven’t studied accounting before, the University of Otago’s Master of Professional Accounting (MProf.Acct) is the course to get them there! The (MProf.Acct) enables graduates with little or no experience or qualifications in accounting to work towards professional accreditation through an intensive course of study and applied research.

Duration: 18 months Programme.

NEW ZEALAND EXCELLENCE AWARDS (NZEA) 2023/2024

Eligibility Criteria: The New Zealand Excellence Awards (NZEA) is jointly funded by New Zealand Universities and Education New Zealand (ENZ). The NZEA features Scholarships across seven New Zealand Universities, offering an opportunity for Indian students to experience New Zealand excellence in various Programmes:

  • Lincoln University
  • Massey University
  • University of Otago
  • The University of Waikato
  • The University of Auckland
  • Auckland University of Technology
  • Victoria University of Wellington

No of PG Scholarships: 28; No of UG Scholarships: 3

All applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years at the time of application.
  • Hold current citizenship of India (and not be a citizen or Permanent Resident of New Zealand or Australia).
  • Hold a minimum equivalent GPA or B+ in your most recent or highest tertiary qualification.
  • Hold an unconditional or conditional offer for the one of the NZEA eligible courses.

How to apply? To complete this application, you will need to upload the following documents:

  • Evidence of offer of place at a New Zealand University.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • All academic transcripts.
  • Proof of Indian Citizenship and every other country for which you hold citizenship.

Value of the Scholarship:
PG Scholarships: NZ 5,000 each; UG Scholarships: NZ 10,000 each.
